Manchester United are intensifying their pursuit of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, despite strong competition from Newcastle United.
The Red Devils have already spent over £120 million this summer, with their latest splash being a £71 million deal for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo (including add-ons). Given the club’s financial constraints and the absence of European football this season, many expected a period of sales before any further big moves.
So far, United have only offloaded Marcus Rashford, who joined Barcelona on loan. However, the club is pressing ahead with efforts to secure Sesko’s ssignature.
United Optimistic Amid Growing Interest
According to Absolut Fussball journalist Christopher Michel, INEOS have officially greenlit the move, and there’s growing optimism within United that they can beat Newcastle to the 22-year-old Slovenia international.

Michel reports that United have maintained long-term contact with Sesko’s camp and are confident the transfer is within reach. Internally, the club believes the deal is “possible,” especially as manager Ruben Amorim is eager to bring in a new centre-forward to complete his system.
RB Leipzig Open to Selling
RB Leipzig, who missed out on European qualification, are reportedly under pressure to balance their books after investing more than €90 million in new signings this summer. They are said to be demanding €75 million plus add-ons and a sell-on clause for Sesko, a deal that would make the striker their most expensive forward sale to date.

Sesko is understood to be open to a move to Old Trafford, and with Leipzig keen to raise funds, this may be the perfect moment for United to negotiate a favourable deal.
Final Thoughts?
A move for Sesko would further strengthen Manchester United’s attacking options and underline the club’s long-term vision under new leadership. Whether they can seal the deal ahead of Newcastle remains to be seen, but all signs point to a genuine push from the Red Devils.
